Why LED Boards Are Especially Vulnerable
- 🌡️ High operating temperatures — LED drivers run hot; coatings must not yellow, crack or delaminate over thousands of thermal cycles
- 💧 Outdoor moisture exposure — streetlights, parking lights, billboard LEDs face rain, dew, condensation
- 🔃 Thermal cycling fatigue — daily on/off cycles create expansion/contraction stress on solder joints and component leads
- 🔆 Optical transparency — coating on transparent/optical paths must not yellow or cause haze
- 📐 Aluminium PCB substrates (MCPCBs) — most high-power LEDs use metal-core boards requiring specialised adhesion
- 🧂 Coastal and tropical climates — salt air, 80–95% RH humidity in Vietnam, India, Malaysia
Acrylcoat LED-LGT-SPL-60 — Why It Was Created
Standard acrylic conformal coatings work for general electronics, but CONINS engineers developed LED-LGT-SPL-60 specifically for LED lighting assemblies. Also known in the industry as LED board varnish, LED module protective coat, LED PCB waterproof coating, LED driver board lacquer or light board conformal coat.

Step-by-Step Application Process for LED Boards
Clean the LED Board
Apply Elclean E-Clean Spray or Elclean Liquid to remove all flux residues, oils and ionic contamination. LED boards often have silicone-based thermal compounds — mask those areas carefully.
Pre-Dry
Pre-dry the LED board at 60°C for 10–15 minutes in a clean oven. This removes residual moisture from the aluminium substrate — critical for good adhesion.
Mask Sensitive Areas
Apply masking tape over: LED light emitting surfaces, lens contacts, thermal pad areas, connectors, test points, and any optical components.
Apply LED-LGT-SPL-60
Apply by brushing, spraying with the CONINS Spray Pump, or dipping. Apply at 50–100 µm wet film thickness for outdoor LED products. For very humid environments (Vietnam, coastal India), apply 2 coats for maximum protection.
Oven Cure
Cure at 80°C for 60 minutes. Allow to reach room temperature before removing masking. Allow 24 hours before electrical test, 7 days for full optimum properties.
UV Inspection
Inspect under UV lamp — Acrylcoat fluoresces blue-white under UV. Verify complete coverage with no dry spots, especially around component leads and board edges.
