How to Apply Acrylcoat Conformal Coating
- Clean the boardRemove flux, oil and dust with Elclean Liquid or ELCLEAN E-Clean.
- Pre-heatWarm the PCB to about 45–50°C in an oven or with a hot-air blower to drive off moisture.
- ApplySpray evenly from about 25 cm, or brush or dip. For volume work use our spray pump.
- Dry & cureAR grades are touch dry in about 10–15 minutes; ALQ-60, ALQ-100 and SKR-70 are oven cured at 80°C.
- InspectCheck coverage under a UV lamp on grades with a UV tracer before testing.

What is PCB conformal coating and why is it needed?
A conformal coating is a thin protective film applied over a printed circuit board assembly. It follows the shape of the board and components and protects them against moisture, dust, fungus, oxidation and corrosion, and against high-voltage arcing and corona shorts. This reduces field failures and extends product life.
Do you supply conformal coating in aerosol cans to the UK?
Yes. Several Acrylcoat grades are available in 500 ml aerosols, and lacquer grades come in 1, 5 and 25 litre containers for brush, dip or spray-gun application.
How do I remove Acrylcoat for rework?
Acrylcoat is solderable, so most repairs can be soldered through the coating. It can also be removed with our Elclean Thinner AR.
What packing sizes are available?
Acrylcoat AR-30, ALQ-30, ALQ-60 and ALQ-100 are available in 500 ml aerosol cans and in 1, 5 and 25 litre lacquer containers. AR-60 and ARB-30 Black come in 500 ml aerosols, and SKR-70 in 1, 5 and 25 litre packs. MSDS and technical data sheets are provided on request.
